Let's know more about it
powered by pattayaPropertynewspowered by pattayaPropertynewsThere was a minimum number of games that NFL teams had to play between 1920 and 1934, but there was no maximum. The regular season was reduced to 11 games in 1937 and 10 games in 1943, primarily as a result of World War II, from the league’s 1935 mandate that each team play 12 games. The number of games was reduced to 11 in 1946 after the war, and then to 12 in 1947. In 1961, the NFL started using a 14-game schedule, which it stuck with until 1978 when it changed to a 16-game schedule. The NFL formally adopted a 17-game schedule in March 2021 following an agreement with the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA).
Half of the teams will have nine home games when there is an odd number of games in the schedule, while the other half will only have eight. In order to counteract the competitive advantage that comes with playing more home games, each year during two conferences, teams will alternate which ones get more home games. This is due to the fact that playoff berths are awarded at the conference level, meaning that every team in a conference would have completed an equal number of home games.
The NFL played in two conferences from 1933 to 1966, with the winners of each conference playing each other in the NFL Championship Game. A one-game playoff would be used to decide the conference champion if two teams were tied for the lead in the conference. When the NFL grew to 16 teams in 1967, the league reorganized conferences once more, dividing them into two four-team divisions, rather than dissolving them by merging with the Western Conference. Each division’s winners would play each other in a two-round playoff. From 1960 to 1969, the NFL also hosted the Playoff Bowl, formerly known as the Bert Bell Benefit Bowl. Because it was a third-place play, the league viewed it more like an exhibition than a playoff game. Because of how people view the game.
In 1970, the NFL split into two conferences, each with three divisions, following the integration of the former AFL teams. An eight-team playoff featuring the top three division winners from each conference as well as a “wild card” team (the best non-division winner from each conference) was part of the expanded league, which now had 28 teams. The total number of playoff teams was increased to ten in 1978 when the league added one more wild card team from each conference. Two more wild card teams were added in 1990, bringing the total to twelve. Following its 2002 expansion to 32 teams, the NFL underwent a structural change that resulted in each conference having four divisions instead of three. as soon as every division winner is qualified for the playoffs.
